![]() Note that for reasons of problems with maintaining identical depth of field in both images for the pixel-by-pixel substitution process to work properly, only the camera's Shutter Speed settings should be adjusted, and not the Aperture, to achieve the desired exposure latitude. At least I think I understood that right? However, and for reasons that aren't quite clear to me, he is proposing including the provision to accept even more images in his final release version. ![]() Indeed the author states quite categorically that it should only require just two images taken at approx 4EV apart to produce visibly noise-free and HDR results - one image being exposed for the highlights, and the second around 4 stops higher to allow for shadow detail. (Sorry Ga, but NO weddings or bath-time bubbles! However an "anti ghosting" algorithm is in the pipeline it seems for the final version of Zero Noise to deal with some mis-registration issues - see this and other greyed out buttons on the software's GUI interface that provide the clues to future developments). This will perhaps only interest those who like to shoot subjects without a pulse or intrinsic motion, such as architecture (inside churches?), (some) landscapes, still-life, product, (some) artwork etc, as this technique requires at least two identical images taken at different exposures to work. So, and as the poor low light noise characteristics of our beloved Kodaks are legendary, I thought I'd take a closer look at it. SIGMA SD14 NEAT IMAGE NOISE PROFILES SOFTWAREUnfortunately for some of us though, the Zero Noise software is written for Windows PC's only, and as the author freely admits to having no expertise in authoring for the MAC, it looks like there won't be a MAC version any time soon. (Does the much vaunted Foveon sensor even need such a thing, I wonder?) and which announced the seemingly long awaited release of some beta software called 'Zero Noise', written by a Spanish telecoms engineer, Guillermo Lujik, in Madrid. Well, he does get everywhere, don't you know, and I was feeling very desperate! LOL :o)) ). SIGMA SD14 NEAT IMAGE NOISE PROFILES FULLI was in dire need of some light relief and was trying to track down as many of Big Ga's posts full of shining wit that I could find. I accidently happened upon this thread in the Sigma SLR Talk forum yesterday, (please don't ask!. At least my own initial impressions are thus. Please excuse the somewhat lengthy post, but I feel this, for some of us at least, is perhaps too important a development to skate over. ![]()
